Who knew mythology was so in these days? After EVISU release their own line of mythology-inspired streetwear, out comes Filipino streetwear label Thy Origin with their own version. Also taking on Japanese mythology, their latest t-shirt line, “Kami” hops on the logomania trend with a few demons, some spirits, and powerful gods for good measure!
“Made for The Gods and Goddesses”
Established in 2013, Thy Origin has always been about the myths and legends. “Made for Gods and Goddesses,” says their official website, and the Philippines-based streetwear brand has often fulfilled its promise. They’ve previously ventured into Greek mythology—always a favorite among mythology aficionados—and it has since been one of their best-selling lines so far.
Japanese Myths Front and Center
This new collection, “Kami” looks no different. Deities and demons decorate the free-form silhouettes, letting their overpowering presence known. The dragon-like Ryūjin—in a slimy shade of green, no less—looks sinister against a pitch-black tee. A red-faced Tengu, on the other hand, terrifies on a plain tee, further highlighting its scary features.
Versatile Street Style Reigns Supreme
Despite the very strong imagery of Japanese mythology, Thy Origin continues its simplistic approach with versatile street style. Though these tees have distinct designs, the lookbook on the brand’s Instagram page suggests they can be paired and styled with anything. Whether it’s with a skirt for a softer look or with a denim jacket to further the rebellious edge, the tees look good with anything and everything!
Thy Origin’s “Kami” t-shirt line is available now on the brand’s online store. Take a look at the entire collection and share with us your thoughts and reactions in our comments section below!
