What does one wear in this age of a pandemic? Soft tailoring, cashmere pieces, and the most comfortable clothes around! And who says all of that can’t look sophisticated? Margaret Howell certainly argues otherwise. Her fall 2021 collection proves there’s a lot of sophistication to looking slouchy!

Margaret Howell’s Signature Casual Elegance

Since 1972, British designer Margaret Howell has been providing a comfortable and casual wardrobe for her elite clientele. She started out by selling shirts from her flat in Blackheath, southeast London, and eventually ventured into luxury ready-to-wear through the support of various British and American retailers. Today, she continues her easy and relaxed signature with her own hint of elegance.

Supremely Soft Tailoring

It’s easy to see in her latest fall 2021 collection that a sense of ease remains her signature “cup of tea.” Even when she involved tailoring through roundly-cut jackets, well-made suits, and her signature culottes, they don’t look restricting. Her customers can freely move—and especially slouch—in them without sacrificing their innate sophistication.

The Subtlety of Autumn Tones

What also helped ease Howell’s use of autumn tones. From “Forest green” outerwear to mustard-yellow button-downs, as well as, of course, warm neutrals, they evoke a classic sense of style without looking too one-note and relying on the black-and-white color scheme. These tones modernize the collection and breathe new life into the clothes.
