There’s no denying that Hermès is all about luxury, but there was slightly surprising—and refreshing!—about their latest take on it for Spring 2021 Menswear. This season, through their digital presentation, they showed the luxury of leisure, with their man taking off the suit in place of louche shirts, huggable knitwear, and relaxed tailoring.
Plush to the Touch
People often forget that apart from their exquisite leather goods, Hermès can really soften it up as well. And at times, those are their more luxurious pieces, For their menswear spring 2020 collection, cool cotton pieces & silky scarf-like button-downs reign supreme. They project a very cosmopolitan—yet intrinsically Mediterranean—look that’s undeniably sophisticated and luxurious.
Cooler Tones for the Hotter Season
While most designer brands will go for hot colors for summer, Hermès went with a different route for this season. Creative director Véronique Nichanian rendered most of the pieces with cooler tones, such as gray, slate, navy, and sky blue. Though there are pops of neon green in various details for a better dimension.
Retro Motifs Make a Comeback
As for motifs, the French luxury brand went back in time, circa the late 60s and 70s, to add more character to the otherwise minimal offering. Yet even with a vintage touch, the collection looks cool and contemporary overall. Paired with the billowy softness of the silhouettes, they also add a tinge of femininity.
