For a label that’s all about one color, the Japanese brand Blue blue Japan sure can dish out such fascinating takes on the color. For spring 2022, they presented a collection that’s both relaxing and a little bit nostalgic. And it’s not surprising that there’s sustainability behind it too.
Looking Good But Never Feeling Blue
Since it was first founded in 1996, Blue blue Japan has mastered indigo dyeing over the years. With each new collection, they’re able to bring out a whole new vision and style for blue, proving their astounding creativity and ever-evolving outlook. This can’t be said about other streetwear brands.

Sustainable Serenity for 2022
Ironically enough, Blue Blue Japan’s latest spring 2022 collection is inspired by the Tiger, the main zodiac animal of this year. As a creature entrenched with Mother Earth, the environmental motifs present a new side of the zodiac tiger, one that’s gentler and more serene. And as if to back the concept up, the brand made use of vegetable dye, tie-dye, and other organic methods to achieve the perfect shade of indigo and to construct their high-quality garments.
Homemade Touches Worth Embracing
What can’t be missed, however, no matter how minute, are the handmade touches that feel like home. A top-stiched quilted jacket, for instance, looks like a cozy piece made by a grandmother for her grandkids. The crumpled pleating also has a homely appeal to it, as if it was by a young maiden who wanted to amp up her modest wardrobe.
