Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 2018 Campaign Faces Backlash

Netizens slammed the Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 2018 campaign. The issue is about one of its released images.

Victoria Beckham’s eponymous label, Victoria Victoria Beckham, faces backlash for its Spring/Summer 2018 eyewear campaign. The image in question featured Lithuanian model Giedre Dukauskaite.

The model wore a pair of frames from the new range. However, the problem actually came from the model; not from the product.

More Than Just A Campaign

After the label posted the images, people from social media took notice of the model’s physique. There were comments on how she looked very skinny and unhealthy.

There were also comments on how the fashion industry continues to glorify skinny bodies. Moreover, netizens slammed Beckham for allegedly “promoting eating disorders.”

Victoria Beckham has not given any statement on the issue.

Nonetheless, this is not the first time that fashion brands come under fire for their editorial choices. Last November, Victoria’s Secret got criticisms for the rigorous diet plans that its Angels go through for its annual fashion show.

Before that, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs, among others, came to an agreement to ban size zero models in the runway. According to them, they hope to inspire the whole fashion industry to make a real difference in the working conditions of models.
