The Stone Island Spring/Summer 2018 Collection Is Innovative

The new Stone Island Spring/Summer 2018 collection features high quality outerwear. The assortment comes from new materials and techniques.

Stone Island continues to develop innovative fabrics and techniques. The brand used new ways of making garments along with concepts and processes taken from its extensive archive.

The Spring/Summer 2018 collection takes its inspiration from vintage Polish military uniforms. The label also chose alligator camouflage as this season’s camo print.

The process involved hand-painting the design before taking its photograph and re-printing. The alligator camo pieces come with shoulderpieces of a special light cotton-nylon rep material, which underwent a six-color printing process.

Bring Back the Past

The brand also reworked some iconic pieces from its Marina line for the collection. Stone Island developed two separate but related releases for Marina.

The “Folded” capsule featured dyed, folded, and printed-by-hand pieces. This gives them an original graphic motif that varies from garment to garment.

The “Allover” pieces, on the other hand, went through a conventional method of production. Both capsules showcase colors such as “Avio Blue,” “Octane,” “Lavender,” and “Salmon.”

Meanwhile, other materials used in the collection include a nylon tela base plated with a highly reflective white coating. The coating comes from thousands of glass microspheres.
