Karl Lagerfeld Bares All In A Telltale Interview

Karl Lagerfeld is notorious for speaking his mind out without filter. In his latest interview with Numero Magazine, the infamous designer talks about his opinion on Virgil Abloh and J.W. Anderson.

Lagerfeld began with describing how “stimulating” it is to work with three brands: Chanel, Fendi, and his eponymous label. He admitted that it is a challenge to constantly reinvent himself as he goes from one fashion house to the next.

He has given sixty years of his life in the business but he still feels that he could do better. “I am never happy with myself. I have to give myself a kick up the behind to go forward…”

I’d Kill Myself First

When asked to rank three designers according to talent, Karl Lagerfeld digressed and talked about Marine Serre instead. The three designers were Simon Porte Jacquemus, Virgil Abloh, and Jonathan Anderson.

He did, however, talk about Jacquemus’ personality and how the designer makes him laugh. He also described the latter as “rather pretty.”

For Anderson, he described his approach as “occasionally over-intellectualized.”

In addition, when he was asked to bring one of the three designers to a desert island, he said, “I’d kill myself first.”
